Joinery Mastery: Macdonald’s Early Years
Macdonald Joinery was founded by James Macdonald back in 2017. After completing a 6 year joinery apprenticeship, James was recommended for the job of restoring and replacing the windows and doors on a grade II listed farm house. He decided to set up his own workshop by extending the summer house in his parents garden.
His first jobs were completed within this tiny 3 by 6 metre workshop, apart from the use of a small planer and table saw, the joinery was entirely made with hand tools. This gave James the opportunity to hone his craft and find his passion in handcrafting windows and doors.

Macdonald Joinery quickly outgrew the small garden workshop and now occupy a 5000sqft premises, the new workshop is set within beautiful Cheshire farmland, overlooking both Beeston and Peckforton castles. State of the art manufacturing techniques are paired with hand finishing to create beautiful windows and doors. We pride ourselves on our high levels of personal service and quality craftsmanship.

Our workshop is located in the heart of Cheshire. We operate mainly in and around Chester, Tarporley and Altrincham. However we can supply doors and windows for delivery nationwide, with fitting available throughout the north west via our approved installers.
